Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Dozens of world and Asian records have been broken as the Asian Games 2018 in Jakarta and Palembang entered the eleventh day on Wednesday.

According to the result of recapitulation by the Indonesia Asian Games 2018 Organizing Committee (INASGOC), six new world records have been created, consisting of two in archery, two in shooting, one in swimming and one in weightlifting.

The new world records in archery were created through the 50-meter mixed compound category where Korean duo So Chaewon and Choi Yonghee scored 1412 points to break the world record of 1410 points set by Dutch duo Jody Vermeulen and Mike Schloesser in the 2018 World Archery Championship held in Berlin last July.

In the men`s 70-meter mixed recurve category at the Asian Games 2018, Korea`s mixed team of Kang Chae Young and Oh Jin Hyek scored 1364 points compared to the world record of 1343 points set in the European Grand Prix Ranking Event 2018 in Bulgaria under the name of Anatasia Pavlova and Markiyan Ivashko of Ukraine.

The two new world records in shooting were created in the men`s trap finals and the trap mixed team finals.

In the men`s trap finals, Kung-Pi Yang of Chinese Taipei equaled the world record of 48 points set by Alberto Fernandez at the World Cup Final (WCF) event held in New Delhi in October 2017. Chinese Taipei also broke the world record in the trap mixed team finals

Chinese swimmer Liu Xiang broke the previous world record of 27.06 seconds in the women`s 50 meter backstroke. She clocked in at 26.98 seconds, making her the world`s first female swimmer to clock in at below 27 seconds.

In weightlifting, Sohrab Moradi of Iran broke the world record in the men?s 94 kg. With the total weight of 410 kg, consisting of 189 kg in the snatch and 221 kg in the clean and jerk, Moradi also broke the Asian Games record of 400 kg set by Kazakhstan weightlifter Ahmetov.

Meanwhile, tens of Asian records have also been set and broken at the pan Asian multi-sporting event.

Most of the Asian Games records were broken in swimming. Four new Asian Games swimming records were created in the finals in the Aquatic Center at Bung Karno Stadium on Friday night (Aug 24).

Rikako Ikee of Japan set a new Asian Games record of 24.53 seconds in the women`s 50 m freestyle. The previous holder of the Asian Games record in this category was Chen Xinyi of China.

In the women`s 50 m backstroke, the 18-year old Japanese swimmer also bested Liu Xiang of China who set a new world record in the women`s 50 m backstroke with a time of 26.98 seconds in the Asian Games finals on Tuesday (Aug 21).

With the time record, Ikee contributed her sixth gold medal to her country`s overall medal tally after winning three gold medals in the women`s 50 m freestyle, women`s 50 m butterfly and women`s 100 m butterfly. Her two other gold medals came from the women`s 4x100 m freestyle relay and the women`s 4x100 m medley relay.

The other new Asian Games records were set by Chinese swimmer Wang Jianjiahe in the women`s 400 m freestyle, with a time of 03.18 seconds, and Kim Seoyeong of South Korea in the women?s 200 m individual medley, with a time of 2 minutes 08.34 seconds.

Kim broke the previous Asian Games record of 2 minutes 08.94 seconds set by Ye Shiwen of China at the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea.

The last new Asian Games record in the finals was created after the Chinese quartet of Xu Jiayu, Yan Zibei, Li Zhuhao, and Yu Hexin clocked in at 3 minutes 29.99 seconds in the men?s 4x100 m medley relay compared to the previous recod of 3 minutes 31.37 seconds set by their compatriots at the 2014 Asian Games.

The last gold medal confirmed China`s domination in the Asian Games 2018 swimming with 19 gold, 17 silver and 14 bronze medals.

In the women`s 100 m sprint, Naser Salwa of Bahrain who clocked in at 50.09 seconds broke her own Asian Games record of 50.66 seconds she set in the Asian Games 2018 qualifying round.

A new Asian Games record was also made in the men`s 400 m hurdles at the Asian Games 2018. Qatari sprinter Abderrahman Samba finished the event with a time of 47.66 seconds ahead of the the previous Asian Games record of 48.42 seconds set by Saudi sprinter Hadi Soua`an Al Somaily at the Asian Games 2002 in Busan, South Korea.

In the women`s 400 m hurdles, Bahrain sprinter Adekoya Oluwakami also broke her own Asian Games record of 54.87 seconds after she clocked in at 54.48 seconds in the event to take home a gold medal.

Still in the sprint, Bingtian Su of China emerged as the fastest man in Asia, having finished first in the men`s 100 meter sprint at the Asian Games 2018 on Sunday (Aug 26).

Bingtian clocked in at 9.92 seconds to earn the gold medal as well as to break the previous Asian Games record of 9.93 seconds set by Femi Ogunode of Qatar at the Asian Games 2014 held in Incheon, South Korea.

In the 3,000 m steeplechase, Iranian runner Hossein Keyhani finished first with a time of 8.22 minutes, breaking the previous Asian Games record of 8.25 seconds set by TM. Taher of Bahrain at the 2010 Asian Games in Guangzhou, China.

Meanwhile, South Korean cyclist Sanghoon Park broke the Asian record in the Asian Games 2018 cycling track men`s 4000 m individual pursuit held at the Jakarta International Velodrome on Wednesday (Aug 29).

Park broke the record in the qualification round, with a time of 4 minutes, 19.672 seconds. The earlier record was held by Kazakhstan`s Artyom Zakharov, with 4 minutes, 19.939 seconds, recorded at the 2013 Track Cycling World Cup in Mexico.

In pole vault, China?s Ling Li managed to jump 4.60 m in the women?s pole vault finals to break her own Asian Games record of 4.35 m she set at the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea.
