"Every time I meet people to distribute land certificates, I feel very happy," he stated. He added that he has always heard complaints about land disputes when he visited hamlets, villages, and regions in Sumatra, Java, East Nusa Tenggara, Sulawesi, Papua, or wherever.
He noted that the disputes occur because people had no land certificates. He remarked that only 40 million out of 126 million plots of land had been certified, meaning 80 million more were yet to be certified across the country.
People have to wait for years to see all of the plots of land certified.
"This year, seven million certificates must be produced, and nine million in 2019. I do not care if the National Land Agency employees have to work even on Saturday and Sunday," he added.
Minister of Agrarian Affairs Sofyan Djalil explained that 540 thousand plots of land in Bogor district were yet to be certified. "Following the directives of the president, they will be completed by 2023," he asserted.
A total of three thousand land certificates were distributed to people from four sub-districts in Bogor. They are Cigudeg (750 plots of land), Jasinga (375), Ciseeng (1,500), and Gunung Sindur (375).
On the occasion, Jokowi called on the people to maintain their unity and brotherhood with regard to the parliamentary and presidential elections in April next year.
"Do not fight just because of the district head, provincial governor, or presidential elections. The diversity we have is a blessing from God. Do not fight just because of different political preferences as elections only happen every five years, while we are all the same creation of God," he revealed.
He called on the people not to be influenced by hoaxes."Do not be influenced by hoaxes about land certificates, as indeed there are still 87 million who have not received land certificates," he noted.
The target of land certification in West Java in 2018 has been set at 1,270,188 plots of land.
