Minister of Transportation, Budi Karya Sumadi, after opening a discussion event titled `Background Study for Strategic Plan of Transportation Research and Development 2020-2024 to Sustain Transportation Policy Review Board Establishment` in Jakarta, Wednesday, stated that his office has invited 15 start-up companies.
"We are involving millennials, which is why we are cooperating with start-up companies, approximately 15 groups, and they have provided us with some inputs," he revealed.
He believed that the millennials can be more precise in observing the needs that may arise in the transportation sector these days.
"They can be sharper compared to us, who are used to the system that existed," he noted.
He hoped for the collaboration to result in innovations and breakthroughs for the development of transportation, as well as solutions for the air, land, sea, and railway transport sectors.
Additionally, Minister of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform Syafruddin hoped for research to be a benchmark, especially in formulating regulations.
"Surely, I appreciate the Ministry of Transportation that has initiated the well-intended step; hopefully, the result of the research can be an evidence to create regulations in the future," he stated.
He also revealed that the result of the research can lead to innovations, especially ones aimed at efficiency in public services.
"Research results should be developed further, especially for professional administrative efficiency, so that the public can be given good services," he pointed out.
