The 31 names were among a total of 3,369 names deleted from DPT because they did not meet the requirements, Betty Epsilon Idroos, chairperson of the KPU Jakarta, said here, on Saturday evening.
The names were removed from the list of eligible voters in 10,810 polling stations across the capital city. In North Jakarta, 132 names were taken out from the list, in East Jakarta 1,447, in South Jakarta 1,540, in West Jakarta 102, and on Seribu Island 12. The KPU Jakarta held a plenary meeting on Friday evening (April 12) to discuss recapitulation of the local DPT.
The commission approved a total of 7,761,598 eligible voters expected to cast ballots in 29,010 polling stations throughout Jakarta on April 17, 2019.
The Central Jakarta Municipality has 809,975 eligible voters, North Jakarta 1,253,753, East Jakarta 2,246,279, South Jakarta 1,694,316, West Jakarta 1,738,262, and Seribu Island District 19,013 voters.
Indonesia will organize simultaneous legislative and presidential elections across the country and in the nation's representative offices overseas on April 17, 2019.
This year's race will be a re-run of the bitter 2014 presidential election that showcased the country's divide, as Joko Widodo (Jokowi) went head-to-head with retired general Prabowo Subianto.
Incumbent Jokowi has picked prominent ulema Ma'ruf Amin as his running mate, while Subianto has chosen successful and young businessman Sandiaga Uno as his pair.
The General Elections Commission (KPU) recently announced that the total number of eligible voters included in the national DPT is 192,866,254 people, comprising .190.779.969 eligible voters living across Indonesia, and 2,086,285 Indonesians overseas.
KPU Chairman Arief Budiman said on April 8, 2019, the commission has set up 809,699 polling stations throughout Indonesia.
Meanwhile, to serve Indonesians overseas, the commission has provided 789 polling stations, 2, 326 mobile ballot boxes, and 426 ballots via mail services.
