"The governor must uphold his commitment to not continue with the reclamation. However, currently, a setback was faced with the issuance of building permits on the reclaimed isles," coordinator of the protest Elang ML noted here on Monday.
Elang emphasized that the issuance of building permits on the isles were counterproductive to fishermen and the coastal environment.
"The reclamation alone has affected the environment, let alone the building on it," he pointed out.
The coalition has reiterated its stand to express objection to the issuance of 932 building permits in the C and D reclaimed islands.
It appealed to the Jakarta administration to maintain a consistent stance to decline reclamation of Jakarta Bay.
"For buildings without the permits, merely apologizing will not suffice. Pay the fines, but then they can obtain the permits. The sanction should be in the form of demolishing the buildings," he emphasized.
The coalition has also called on the provincial government to review its regulation on spatial planning.
Revision on spatial planning will be synchronized with the draft of the regional regulation on the zones of coastal areas and small islands.
