Secretary of Agam District's Tourism, Youth and Sports Office, Agusnaldi said here Friday the Enchanting Lake Maninjau festival is scheduled to take place in July 2020 with an alternative location on Muko-muko and Linggai attractions.
"The location cannot be determined now, if the Linggai tourist attraction has been completed, then the activity can be centered there," he said.
Various activities such as paragliding, dragon boat or rowing boat competition, traditional boat competition, Tour de Maninjau, Lake Maninjau photo contest, regional culinary competitions and traditional fashion show from each sub-district in Agam will be performed at the festival.
At this event, each sub-district and traditional village in Tanjungraya Sub-district will prepare ten regional specialties along with the bearers of the special foods in a uniform of red colored shirts.
"We are preparing for the activity, and propose Rp3.5 billion to make it run well. The budget is expected to be taken from the 2020 Regional Budget," he said.
He added that the festival is held to promote tourism in the area and attract domestic and foreign visitors.
It is expected that the number of tourists will continue to increase and the economy of the surrounding communities will also improve.
In 2018 the number of tourist visits to Agam reached 704,084 people, in 2017 there were 653,108 holiday makers, and in 2016, 519,232 vacationers visited the district.
"Every year the number of tourist visits increases to the area," he said.
Agam has quite a lot of tourist destinations with beautiful scenery in addition to gorgeous views including those of Puncak Lawang, Lawang Park, Muko-muko, Museum By Hamka, Ambun Tanai, Pasia Tiku Beach and Bandar Mutiara.
