Manokwari, W Papua (ANTARA) - A traditional fisherman, Melianus Mandowen, who went fishing in the Tanah Rubuh waters, Manokwari District, West Papua Province, is missing since Monday, Head of Manokwari National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) George Mercy Randang revealed. "Until Tuesday morning, Melianus Mandowen had not yet returned. His relatives were so worried about him that they filed a report with us," he told journalists in Manokwari Tuesday.

Mandowen reportedly went missing while fishing alone in his traditional wooden boat in the Tanah Rubuh waters. The SAR agency has sent 12 personnel to conduct a search.

Two Indonesian navy officers and several local fishermen joined the search efforts, he said, adding the fisherman had not yet been found but his last position was predicted to be at coordinates 1 °13'39.59S - 134°12'42.62"E. (INE)
