We must remind each other so that we are all safe from COVID-19Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Government's Spokesperson for Handling COVID-19 Achmad Yurianto stated that most people have understood and complied with health protocols to prevent transmission of COVID-19 caused by the new type of coronavirus.
"There are still people who have not been disciplined. We must remind each other so that we are all safe from COVID-19," Yurianto said at a press conference, here on Sunday.
The safe behavior amid the ongoing COVID-19 is the most important part in carrying out productive activities, according to him.
Safe behavior is not difficult to do, because it has been repeatedly reminded and carried out and written in the health protocols.
Yurianto said a vaccine that can be used to create artificial immunity from the coronavirus that causes COVID-19 has not been developed. Experts around the world have been trying to develop the vaccine.
"We cannot just stay and wait. We still have to make efforts to stay safe from COVID-19. It is also done by residents in other countries affected by COVID-19," he said.
Yurianto said the coronavirus is transmitted from one person to another, from someone who is sick or asymptomatic ones. People categorized as vulnerable to the virus include the elderly, children, and people who have a congenital disease.
The coronavirus is in the walls of the respiratory tract because it is a respiratory infection. The virus is easily separated from a person's body and spreads around when someone who is coughing, sneezing, or talking.
"Maintaining distance is one way to avoid contracting COVID-19 because we do not know anyone who carries the virus," he said.
In addition to keeping a distance, a safe way from COVID-19 is to use a mask, especially when you have to leave the house.
COVID-19 can also be transmitted indirectly through objects contaminated with coronaviruses that are often held, such as door handles, banisters or elevator buttons.
"Hence, frequently wash your hands using soap and running water to avoid the transfer of the virus from our hands that hold objects contaminated with the virus," he said.
