Yogyakarta (ANTARA) - Four people lost their lives, while four others suffered injuries when two cars collided head-on in Mlati Village, Sleman District, Yogyakarta Special Province, on Saturday morning.

"Four people lost their lives, while (four) others sustained injuries. In total, the number of victims reaches eight," Chief of the Traffic Unit of the Sleman District Police Adjunct Commissioner Mega Tetuko stated on Saturday.

The head-on collision took place on Saturday morning when a Honda Mobilio minivan veered to the right and collided with a Mitsubishi Xpander after hitting the road divider, he remarked.

"Thereafter, it rammed into a building on the roadside," he noted.

All victims were moved to hospitals, including the RSUD Sleman, RSA UGM, and RS Bhayangkara.

The police are yet investigating the cause of the deadly accident by interrogating several witnesses, he revealed.
