Implementing  stringent health protocols in all mode of transportation must become the key focus of the Transportation Ministry in handling COVID-19
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi reaffirmed that health protocols implementation in all modes of transportation would become the ministry's key focus in handling the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Implementing stringent health protocols in all modes of transportation must become the key focus of the Transportation Ministry in handling COVID-19," Sumadi said in a statement here on Sunday.

The minister made the statement in a working visit to North Sumatra on Saturday (Nov 8). Sumadi held a meeting with local authorities on the development plan and revitalization of Amplas and Tanjung Pinggir Terminals.

Sumadi said, the plan must be proceeded to recover the economy that has been hit by the COVID-19 pandemic.

"The development projects must be run in synergy with the implementation of health protocols, to recover people's economy. We must be proactive in the development of transportation," he added.

Present at the meeting were the Director General of Land Transportation Budi Setiyadi and the Director General of Railway Zulfikri.
