Kendari, SE Sulawesi (ANTARA) - Rescue workers in Kendari launched a search operation on Sunday evening to locate four fishermen whose fishing vessel overturned in the waters of Kolaka District, Southeast Sulawesi Province, on Sunday afternoon.

The fishermen were found alive and evacuated to Kolaka Port, around one nautical mile away from where the incident occurred.

The survivors were identified as Syahril (21), Hendra (24), Abdul Gafur (21), and Ardi (28), Head of the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas)-Kendari Office Aris Sofingi was quoted as saying here on Monday.

The Kolaka SAR office received a report of the incident on Sunday at about 6:45 p.m. local time. Some 20 minutes later, several rescue workers aboard a speedboat headed to the waters where the incident took place, he stated.

The rescue workers found the four fishermen alive and evacuated them to Kolaka Port to be handed over to their respective families.

Sofingi noted that the Kolaka Port authority, coastal community, and Indonesian navy had also extended assistance for the rescue mission.
