Jakarta (ANTARA) - The 10 terror suspects arrested in Merauke, Papua, last week, had made a loyalty oath to ISIS, a police spokesman stated.

"Hence, the 10 people are members of the Ansharut Daulah network that has links to ISIS. They also followed the physical exercise using weapons there," Chief of the Public Relations Division at the National Police Headquarters Inspector General Argo Yuwono noted here on Monday.

The National Police’s counterterrorism squad, Densus 88, arrested the 10 terror suspects in Merauke on May 28, 2021.

The 10 terror suspects are identified by their initials as K, SB, ZR, UAT, DS, SD, WS, YK, AP, and IK. Of the 10, AP and IK are known to be a married couple.

Densus arrested another terror suspect with links to the Ansharut Daulah network in Kurik, Merauke, Papua, on Sunday, May 30, 2021.

Yuwono noted that the detention of these 11 is the latest in the series of arrests of terror suspects in South Sulawesi

"Several pieces of evidence, such as air rifles, sharp weapons, and arrows, have been found there," he stated.

Moreover, police officers retrieved liquid and other chemicals while conducting a search at their homes. All pieces of evidence are being studied thoroughly to examine their content, he noted.

Yuwono affirmed that the terror suspects, with links to the Ansharut Daulah network in Merauke, had originally planned suicide bombings on churches, the police district station, and traffic police office in Merauke.
