Jakarta (ANTARA) - The operational mechanism of malls during the extension of public activity restrictions (PPKM) Level 4 in Jakarta was regulated by associations and the Tourism and Creative Economy Service, Jakarta Deputy Governor Ahmad Riza Patria stated.

"The related stakeholders will be regulating the malls' operational mechanism after tonight's announcement (of extension of PPKM Level 4)," Patria noted at the Jakarta City Hall on Monday night.

The governor remarked that visitors were required to show their vaccination certificates in order to gain entry into malls. The shopping centers must limit their capacity to 25 percent, with an operational time limit in place.

"This will be monitored jointly by the police and provincial government on an ongoing and sustainable basis," Patria emphasized.

The governor has urged all Jakartans to stay vigilant and always apply strict health protocols in a bid to curb the spread of COVID-19.

"We must always abide by the regulation for our own's sake not because we are afraid of the penalty or the fine of the regulation but since we believe that following the health protocols is our common need," Patria stressed.

Moreover, the governor pointed out that houses of worship, such as mosques and churches, will also remain open at 25-percent capacity or for up to a maximum of 20 people.

Coordinating Maritime Affairs and Investment Minister Luhut B. Pandjaitan had earlier revealed that the PPKM Level 2-4 enforced in Java and Bali was again extended until August 16, 2021. The PPKM level 4 was lowered in some 26 cities and districts to Level 3.

"According to Mr. president, PPKM Level 4, 3, and 2 in Java-Bali will be extended until August 16, 2021. This decision will be stipulated in the Instruction of the Minister of Home Affairs in further detail," Pandjaitan stated at a virtual press conference on Monday.

The Indonesian government had implemented Emergency PPKM on July 3-25, 2021. Furthermore, the government has applied PPKM Level 1-4 during the period from July 26 to August 9, 2021.

Implementing the extension of PPKM Levels 2, 3, and 4 on August 2-9 in Java-Bali has yielded good results. This is apparent from the trends of cases and hospital care in Java-Bali that have recorded a decrease in the number of daily cases of COVID-19.
