Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo wore traditional Baduy attire during the annual plenary session of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) , the House of Representatives (DPR) and the Regional Representatives Council (DPD) at the Parliamentary Building Complex, here on Monday.

The president, dressed in traditional black Baduy clothing and a black and blue songkok (skull cap), was present at the Plenary Meeting Room of the Nusantara Building .

The head of state has always chosen to wear traditional clothing during the MPR annual session.

In 2020, Widodo had dressed in traditional Sabu clothing from East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).

The president arrived at the parliament complex at 8:05 a.m.local time and was greeted by MPR Chairman Bambang Soesatyo, House Speaker Puan Maharani, and DPD Chairman La Nyalla Mahmud Mattalitti.

Meanwhile, Vice President Amin wore traditional Mandar attire from West Sulawesi.

The vice president wore a black suit and pants with a red woven sarong with the typical Mandar pattern as a belt.

The vice president also wore the songkok head gear.

The president was scheduled to deliver two speeches during this annual agenda. First, the State of the Nation Address of the President of the Republic of Indonesia at the joint plenary session.

Second, the Speech of the President of the Republic of Indonesia in the context of Submission of Government Information on the Bill on the State Budget for the 2022 Fiscal Year along with its Financial Note at the Plenary Meeting of the Opening of the First Session of the Indonesian House of Representatives for the 2021-2022 Session Year.
