Tangerang (ANTARA) - The Tangerang city government is currently preparing the 'Tangerang Rises' Program, which will focus on economic recovery, ease of vaccine access, and development that involves the community directly by targeting residents in 104 urban villages.

"The 'Tangerang Rise' Program is in support of President Joko Widodo's tagline, which is Tough Indonesia, Growing Indonesia, as the theme for the 76th Independence Day," Tangerang Mayor Arief R Wismansyah said in Tangerang on Tuesday.

The pandemic that has stretched for more than two years has had an impact on the social, economic, health, education, and lifestyle sectors of the community, he noted. "To help the affected residents, the city government has distributed various food and cash assistance to the community," he said.

Along with the national decline in COVID-19 cases and inoculation of the general public, the city government has begun to prepare a breakthrough program for growing the economy and ensuring public health through the 'Tangerang Rises' Program, he added.

The program will focus on direct citizen involvement for dealing with the pandemic, Wismansyah said. The municipal government is providing facilities that the public needs to continue to grow and rise to reach and exceed expectations, he added.

"The 'Tangerang Rises' (Program) is a form of unyielding spirit to face the pandemic crisis. This awakening can be carried out in mutual cooperation, as President Joko Widodo desired in his hope for the public," he remarked.

The mayor also said that 'Tangerang Rises' is in line with the tagline 'Tough Indonesia, Growing Indonesia', which is focused on encouraging community social movements to manage food security, job training, and so on.

On top of that, the Tangerang city government will also welcome ideas for sustainable city development from related stakeholders, in accordance with the characteristics of the existing area, he added.

Aside from that, officials in 13 sub-districts and 104 villages have also prepared programs for the near future that will involve the residents in economic recovery, the mayor said.
