Currently, there has been a disruption in transactions—from conventional transactions to digital payment banking transactions, consumer director of BRI, Handayani, stated.
"To handle this trend, BRI has developed a digital payment technology that could answer various transaction needs of customers and merchants who become BRI partners," she highlighted in an official statement received here on Friday.
"One of the methods that we are currently using is scanning customers' QRIS barcode that will be conducted by merchants," she added.
Handayani noted that the existence of BRI's one million QRIS merchants as of September 2021 was an effort to support Bank Indonesia's 12 million QRIS merchants movement.
"This achievement is an extraordinary leap since the number of BRI's QRIS merchants has increased by 700 percent, or sevenfold year on year," she said.

QRIS BRI will continue to grow since BRI has work units spread out in all of Indonesia and all of BRI's mentee merchant partners will be edified in the use of QRIS payment as the latest payment method, she added.
In addition, BRI is releasing a new feature for QRIS transactions through Mobile Banking BRImo, namely a Merchant QR feature, she informed.
"We hope that this Merchant QR feature can expedite the growth of the number of BRI's QRIS merchants," she elaborated.
To achieve one million QRIS merchants, BRI collaborated with several merchants as well as created a QRIS payment ecosystem in certain regions such as Borobudur Temple, Muntilan, Central Java, she said.
Furthermore, BRI's QRIS is also being utilized as a payment system in a number of state institutions, such as for making payments for the extension of driver's licenses in police stations in Indonesia, she noted.
