Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Jakarta provincial government has won three awards in social media management amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

"We hope to continue to produce social media content that benefits the community," head of public communication at Jakarta Office of Communication, Informatics, and Statistics, Nuruning Septarida, said here on Saturday.

Jakarta won three awards in the categories of Best Use of Image, Best Use of Video, and Best Account, she informed.

The social media content that won in the Best Use of Image category was the revitalization of Tebet Station and Sneak Peak Station, she said.

Meanwhile, the video content of the Jakarta government appreciating a citizen's lawsuit against air quality won the award in the video category, she informed.

In addition, the Jakarta government was also deemed to manage its social media account well, which won it the best social media account award, Septarida said.

The three awards were presented at the virtual Government Social Media Summit (GSMS) 2021, held by the state social media analytics agency and supported by the Ministry of Communication and Informatics as well as NoLimit Indonesia on Friday (November 26, 2021).

Septarida said the COVID-19 pandemic has posed a challenge to conveying information to the public.

Limited community mobility during the pandemic made social media one of the main platforms for communicating government policies, she added.

Great public communication through effective social media can be assessed not only from how the public responds, but also how the community is involved in supporting government programs and policies, she explained.

For that reason, the right communication strategy is necessary so that information and messages conveyed through social media are understandable and motivate the public, Septarida highlighted.

In the award assessment process, analytical data was provided by NoLimit Indonesia, a date-based startup company that monitors and analyzes online media.

There were 249 participants whose analytical data were collected for GSMS 2021. They included 34 ministries, 50 institutions/agencies, 34 provincial governments, and 131 state-owned enterprises (SOEs), Septarida said.

The period of data collection was September 1, 2020 to August 31, 2021, with data selected based on performance and highest engagement, she added.
