Jakarta (ANTARA) - Relocation of the capital city (IKN) Nusantara to East Kalimantan will involve local human resources (HR) since the commencement of IKN development until the government starts functionally there, Presidential Chief of Staff (KSP) Moeldoko emphasized.

The development of IKN Nusantara should be able to tap into the skills of human resources in the region, Moeldoko noted.

"We should not ignore the presence of local human resources from the developing phase until the government has started functioning at the new place. The IKN relocation must be able to create qualified human resources and absorb the existing workforce to play an active role in it and even contribute to this large project," Moeldoko stated at the public discussion regarding the relocation of IKN Nusantara on Wednesday.

He later noted that people in East Kalimantan are optimistic that the new IKN development would not marginalize the local community.

In addition, representatives from the KSP arrived in East Kalimantan to listen to the residents' aspirations through indigenous people, religious leaders, and local youth leaders, Moeldoko stated.

The local community also expects the government to implement the concept of protecting the environment during IKN's development, he remarked.

"The concept of protecting the environment, as conveyed by President Joko Widodo and Public Works and Public Housing Minister Basuki Hadimuljono, entails that only 20-30 percent of the area will be used for building infrastructure while the remaining 70 percent will be maintained. They reminded us to implement the concept," he stated.

The community is also sanguine that the local wisdom and culture of East Kalimantan would be well-maintained, so that they can play an active role in the development of IKN Nusantara.

"These are important aspects that need to be taken into account, so that the policy related to the IKN relocation can take into account the needs of the local community," he concluded.
