Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno has confirmed that 60 thousand tickets for the third or race day of the 2022 Mandalika MotoGP have been sold out.

The MotoGP championship will be held from March 18–20, 2022, at the Pertamina Mandalika International Street Circuit, Central Lombok District, West Nusa Tenggara Province.

"This is to respond to some news doubting MotoGP ticket sales," he said at a weekly press briefing, accessed from here on Monday.

Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto had earlier said that the MotoGP tickets were sold out after confirmation regarding re-paving, the spectator capacity of 60 thousand, and the new requirement for MotoGP spectators under which spectators who have been fully vaccinated will not be required to undergo COVID-19 testing.

The minister expressed the hope that 7,300 rooms around the Mandalika and Gili Lombok area will be occupied soon.

"The plan is that I will stay in Gili for the first night, and then for the second night, I will try glamping in Mandalika," Uno said.

Deputy for industry and investment at the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, Hengky Manurung, said that almost all preparations related to accessibility, amenities, and attractions (3A) for the certification of residential facilities for tourism (sarhunta) had been coordinated with the provincial and Central Lombok district authorities.

"Almost all business players are ready to provide the best services because this MotoGP event will become a challenge for us all to revive again," he remarked.

He said that the ministry will set up help desks, both online and offline, by involving 263 personnel from tourism polytechnics to help visitors enjoy West Nusa Tenggara, the host of the Mandalika MotoGP.

"We will be the frontliners in providing reliable information and the best solution if there are problems on the field," the deputy added.
