Mataram (ANTARA) - The Mataram City Tourism Service in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) province has said that around 70 percent of MotoGP spectators have arrived in Mataram and are staying in hotels in the city.

"Hoteliers informed that hotel room occupancy has now reached 70 percent, the peak of MotoGP guest arrivals is predicted on March 17 (2022),” head of the Mataram City Tourism Service, Nizar Denny Cahyadi, said on Wednesday.

The MotoGP 2022 series at Pertamina Mandalika International Street Circuit will take place from March 18 to 20.

"The arrival of MotoGP guests can be seen from the number of tourism buses passing the main road in this city," he noted.

The number of rooms at star hotels in Mataram city stands at 2,288, Cahyadi informed. Rooms in star hotels have been fully booked since early February.

"In the star hotels, they usually prepare one or two anticipatory rooms to anticipate technical error in equipped rooms that have been booked," he said.

Meanwhile, for services for MotoGP spectators, the Tourism Service has asked hotels in Mataram to prepare free transportation to the city's public transportation center, which has been prepared by the government.

"We had asked hotel managements in Mataram to provide free transportation that will take hotel guests to the former Selaparang Airport as a free bus shelter to the Mandalika Circuit," Cahyadi said.

It is hoped that the public will cooperate in maintaining security and comfort during MotoGP activities since the region will be visited by domestic and foreign guests, he added.

"Although the activity takes place in Central Lombok, there are various supporting activities in Mataram. So, we must be able to provide the best service for visitors to bring comfort and security to them," he added.
