Surabaya (ANTARA) - Mayor of Surabaya Eri Cahyadi officially opened Turi Baru Market after it had been neglected for 15 years since the 2007 fire.

"All traders, who are in temporary shelters and are listed in the Small and Medium Enterprises Cooperatives and Trade Office's data, all of them must partake in the event, no exception," the mayor stated at the opening of the Turi Baru Market in Jepara, Bubutan Sub-district, here on Monday.

The opening of the Turi Baru Market began with a recitation and thanksgiving with the Turi Baru Market traders in the courtyard. All coordinators of Turi Market's traders and their members were present during the prayer.

The event started with a prayer led by Ustadz Aziz Muslim, followed by a recitation by K.H. Mas Mansur Tholhah, and concluded with a prayer led by Mas Yusuf bin Mas Muhajir Basyaiban. This was followed by cutting of the tumpeng by the mayor, and the cut section was offered to one of the coordinators of the Turi Market's traders, H. Syukur.

The procession for the opening of the New Turi Market was also marked by the cutting of jasmine strands, accompanied by ulemas; the investor; and the manager of the Turi Baru, Market PT Gala Bumi Perkasa; as well as all coordinators of the Turi Baru Market's merchants.

Mayor Cahyadi noted on Monday that all traders must move to the Turi Baru Market building. Their items would be moved with assistance from the Surabaya City Government's officials, and the temporary shelter would then be dismantled.

Cahyadi pressed for mutual cooperation and kinship for building something, so that the affluent ones could assist the less fortunate people

General Manager of Turi Baru Market, Teddy Supriyadi, expressed gratitude to the mayor for allocating his time to open the market. He remarked that today, relocation of Turi market's traders, especially those in temporary shelters, will be conducted to the Turi Baru Market building.

One of the coordinators of Turi Market's traders, H. Syukur, who also received the tumpeng cut directly by the mayor, admitted to being overwhelmed with joy, as he had been waiting since long to be able to sell again at Turi Market.

Syukur also ensured that he had informed other traders to immediately arrange the transfer to Pasar Turi Baru, as it would be facilitated by the company.
