"The Eid al-Fitr celebrations became our starting point in leading a different life by collectively adapting to the pandemic that had yet to pass," BNPB's Prevention Deputy Prasinta Dewi noted.
"The spirit of sharing, mutual assistance, volunteerism, and humanitarianism must still be embedded in our soul," she affirmed at the Building Collaborative Preparedness Webinar on Wednesday.
The government's task to develop the nation's resilience in facing disasters is inseparable from building a behavior of preparedness.
This behavior is an important aspect that should be developed at every level of society.
In order to make every strata of society more ready in facing disasters, a more effective strategy, specifically collaboration, is deemed necessary, she remarked.
"To develop collaborative preparedness, all parties can share their respective roles to achieve the goal and vision of developing the nation's resilience in facing disasters that can serve as a collective reference point," Dewi affirmed.
Next, the spirit and yearning for mutual support should continue to be cultivated in the heart of every Indonesian in order to provide emotional and physical support that can facilitate humanitarian work flow.
Then, every strata of society must be capable of developing professional communication.
The goal is to develop a positive and supportive work environment in related ministries or institutions as well as disaster organizations and volunteers.
In conducting humanitarian work, the involvement of actors with diverse work styles, cultural values, education, and backgrounds is important, as they can complement one another.
Moreover, this can give rise to a different mindset that can improve disaster handling in various aspects of life.
