Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Think 20 (T20) is underlining the focus on Small, Medium Enterprises (SMEs) as one of its policy areas to be recommended to G20 leaders.

“We have nine policy areas, with digitalization in Small and Medium Enterprises also being among them, and one of the important (focus areas) is international collaboration,” T20’s Lead Co-Chair Task Force 2 (TF2), Suhono H. Supangkat, noted during a webinar on “Harnessing Digital Technologies to Accelerate SMES, Startups, and Creative Industry” here on Tuesday.

To this end, Supangkat spoke of his intent to engage more sectors, community, and the government to contribute in conducting research to help solve current problems regarding the nine key areas, including SMEs.

“T20 is one of the formal engagement groups of the G20 that is independent from governments and comprises various stakeholders, including from the government, university, and institutions, that produce ideas for conducting research to contribute in addressing our challenges related to the economy, climate change, etc.,” he noted.

The nine policy areas comprise meaningful digital connectivity, cyber security, empowerment; governing climate target, energy transition and environmental protection; food security and sustainable agriculture; inequality, human capital, and well-being; global health security and COVID-19; international finance and economic recovery; inclusive, resilient, and greener infrastructure investment and financing; and global cooperation for SDGs Financing

“We also have two side events. First is the Smart World Innovation Challenge opened last month by Professor Bambang Brodjonegoro. Our second side event is Smarter World Living Life. We approach many sectors and components, including the government, technology development, community and engaging community, government, and industry to improve the quality of life,” Supangkat remarked.

T20 aims to provide innovative ideas and evidence-based policy recommendations to be offered to G20 policy makers, he highlighted.

“We hope our concrete proposals for G20 would create international networks, as Indonesia is also a model for developing countries in G20,” he affirmed.
