Jakarta (ANTARA) - Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto stated that 13.4 million people from several districts and cities across Indonesia had registered in the pre-employment work program.

"Starting from Merauke District, with 16,908 people; Sabang, with 1,653 people; to Talaud Island, with 2,924 people," the minister stated during the event held to discuss data on the 2021 pre-employment work program here on Wednesday.

Furnishing details on the populace of registrants, the minister said that the ratio of male to female participants was almost equal. It also included people with disabilities, elderly people, and elementary school kids.

With such demographics, the pre-employment work program had proven to be an all-encompassing program, with the inclusive nature having met the Sustainable Development Goals' agenda to leave no one behind.

"The figure is not merely a number but is of extraordinary human resources," he remarked.

Hartarto said that the pre-employment work program was one of President Joko Widodo's campaign promises made three years ago, which had been fulfiled, and it even served as a masterpiece due to several innovations surrounding the program.

At a grand meeting of the pre-employment work program alumni on June 17, 2022, he and the president had met eight thousand out of the 13 million people, who received the card, from across 336 districts and cities.

The alumni stated that the pre-employment work card program had been an inclusive one all along.

The minister expressed gratitude to the management of the program, as the hard work put in to offer skilling, reskilling, and upskilling for several members of the Indonesian workforce had led the latter to reap myriad benefits.
