In his remark, he noted that hosting the 34th edition of IOI has been an honor for Indonesia.
Several aspects were readied to ensure that the IOI is a success, he affirmed.
Organizing the event also underlined that Indonesia is at the forefront in leading the world's recovery since the IOI also coincides with Indonesia's G20 Presidency.
Secretary General at the ministry Suharti affirmed that it was a matter of honor for Indonesia to organize the international event.
Suharti also remarked that this is the first after the COVID-19 pandemic that the event was held in a hybrid format.
The 2022 IOI is held both online and face-to-face from August 7 to August 15, 2022. The face-to-face competition is held here.
IOI is one of the 14 international science competitions and is the fourth-oldest competition in the world. This year's IOI is themed "Digital Energy of Asia."
The 2022 IOI has recorded 536 participants, the highest number in the history of the event.
A total of 414 participants from 72 countries compete face-to-face here, while 122 participants from 18 countries compete online.
The goal of the IOI is to identify, challenge, and develop talents; build international bonds; and also introduce informatics to middle-school students.
Earlier, National Achievement Center (Puspresnas) Acting Head at the Ministry Asep Sukmayadi lauded the parties that have helped and supported Indonesia to become the host of IOI.
These parties include related ministries or institutions, the Education Office, Health Office, and the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) that maintains the safety and security of the event during the COVID-19 pandemic.
