We will (convene) the consultative body first (to deliberate the discharge)Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Jakarta Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD) confirmed that the legislature's consultative body would convene to deliberate the discharge of duties of Governor Anies Baswedan and Deputy Governor Ahmad Riza Patria next week.
The term of office of Baswedan and Patria will expire next October, and those to fill in the replacement will take office on an acting basis, pending the 2024 Regional Elections.
"We will (convene) the consultative body first (to deliberate the discharge)," Jakarta DPRD Speaker Prasetio Edi Marsudi stated here, Friday.
The consultative body will convene on Tuesday (August 30) in Bogor, West Java, he remarked while adding that invitations for the assembly had been distributed to consultative body members and the governor on Monday (August 22).

Apart from deliberating the leadership discharge, the body will also discuss the day for plenary sessions to close the second legislative period and open the third legislative period this year, he remarked.
Marsudi confirmed that the home ministry had notified governors and speakers of legislatures of regions in which the office terms of the governors and deputy governors end in 2022.
Meanwhile, according to Article 79, Paragraph 1 of Law No. 23 of 2014, the discharge of duties of regional heads and deputy heads must be announced by the regional legislature leadership to the president through the home ministry.

The regulation also dictated that the proposal to relieve regional leaders from leadership functions should be submitted to the ministry by the latest 30 days before the end of the office term.
Earlier, Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian confirmed that more acting regional heads will be installed in the coming months, and Jakarta will have its acting governor in October.
To be eligible for acting governorship, candidates are required to be at least serving as echelon I high-ranking officers, he remarked.
The screening of potential candidates is underway to gauge the acting governor candidate's background and potential, and the government is accepting inputs to screen proposed names, the minister confirmed.
