"There were six sacks brought using a truck containing waste from Sumatra to Java," West Jakarta Police Chief Senior Commissioner Pasma Royce stated here Friday.
The arrest was made after the police received a tip-off on the distribution of marijuana from Sumatra to Banten by a suspect identified by his initials as SL.
Based on the information, investigators conducted further investigation and found that the suspect SL ordered an expedition driver, SO, to deliver the illicit drugs using a truck.
"SO was asked to deliver the marijuana package and lured with a cash reward of Rp75 million," Royce revealed.
SO picked up 209 kg of marijuana packed in 200 packages at a warehouse on Namorambe Deli Tua Street, Medan, North Sumatra.
"He hid the marijuana packages among the pile of scrap in the truck," he remarked.
SO was arrested when he was filling electronic money at a minimarkets in the Terate area, Kramat Watu, Serang, Banten, on Sunday (August 21).
Based on the preliminary investigation, the marijuana was planned to be distributed to Jakarta and its surrounding area.
The police has detained SO for further questioning to unearth the possibility of further trafficking of marijuana.
The police has hunted suspect SL and put him on the wanted list (DPO).
The arrest has added to the list of marijuana trafficking cases revealed by the West Jakarta Police.
According to Royce, during the last eight months, the West Jakarta Police has revealed the circulation of one ton of marijuana.
"For the last eight months, our ranks have uncovered the distribution of marijuana by the Sumatra-Java network and seized 1,099 kilograms or more than a ton (of marijuana)," he revealed.
