We receive 100 units (of electric motorcycles) support from the collaboration of Lazada and Smoot
Badung, Bali (ANTARA) - The Bali Police will use as many as 300 electric motorcycles for security purposes during the G20 Summit that is scheduled to be held in Nusa Dua, Badung, Bali, on November 15-16, 2022.

The G20 is an international forum comprising 19 countries and the European Union that work together to handle major issues. Indonesia is holding the presidency of the grouping this year.

"We receive 100 units (of electric motorcycles) support from the collaboration of Lazada and Smoot," Bali Police Chief Inspector General Putu Jayan Danu Putra stated during the handover of electric motorcycles from Lazada and Smoot here on Tuesday.

Putra said his side had received 200 electric motorcycles earlier. Thus, the total number of electric vehicles currently reaches 300 units.

Putra remarked that those motorcycles use the battery swap system. The battery swap facilities are currently available at hundreds of points in Bali, especially in Badung and Denpasar.

"Thus, we do not have to wait long. Just swap the battery at a certain place, and we can go again," he remarked.

On that occasion, he lauded the assistance provided by the private sector to the Bali Police in securing the G20 Summit.

The police chief expressed optimism that those hundreds of electric motorcycles, whose status is still that of being loaned, could be given to the Bali Police for conducting security operations after the G20 Summit.

Lazada Indonesia's chief logistics officer Phillipe Auberger said that his side is considering the Bali Police's request.

"We are lending these electric motorcycles for free. We will discuss later (with the Bali Regional Police) regarding the possibility of placing these electric motorcycles for a long time," Auberger stated.

Apart from the motorcycles, so far, a total of 616 electric cars have been readied for the G20 Summit. Of the total, 493 will be used by delegates, while 123 cars will be used for operational and security purposes.
