“For the fourth quarter, we are optimistic because there will be the year-end holidays and increase in (the number of arrivals of) foreign tourists which we hope can surpass three million, and mobility of domestic tourists for which the target is 1.4 billion,” he stated here on Thursday.
Uno noted that the mobility of tourists is expected to continue to support the growth of tourism and the creative economy and drive the growth of jobs in the two sectors.
According to the minister, the number of jobs currently stands at above 40 million.
“The tourism and creative economy sectors will contribute up to 12.5-13 percent of the national economy and the hope is it (the contribution) can rise to become 15 percent in five years ahead,” he remarked.
Recently, Statistics Indonesia (BPS) recorded that Indonesia’s economy grew by 5.72 percent in the third quarter of 2022 (yoy), higher than the growth of 5.45 percent (yoy) recorded in the second quarter of 2022.
"We are very grateful and optimistic because the third quarter showed positive performance in the consumption, investment, and export sectors as well as the creation of job opportunities that can support the momentum of revival," he remarked.
“We in the tourism and creative economy sectors noted that the transportation, accommodation, and food-beverage sectors were the main support of the 5.72-percent figure, which is above the consensus of analysts," he noted.
He affirmed that to maintain the momentum, the government encouraged creative economy players to make their businesses resilient and sustainable amid global uncertainties and the 2023 recession.
Efforts made by the government comprise providing training, assistance, mentoring, and incubation to creative economy players, he remarked.
Thereafter, the government also provides assistance in terms of facilities, including ease of licensing and certification to encourage MSMEs to level up.
“Third is a financing facility, especially with a breakthrough in intellectual property rights-based financing," Uno further noted.
