Please inform the local security officer so residents don’t need to worry when leaving house behind.
Bandung, West Java (ANTARA) - Chief of the National Police (Polri) General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has urged people leaving home to join the Eid al-Fitr exodus to inform local security officers to ensure their home’s safety.

"Please inform the local security officer so residents don’t need to worry when leaving house behind,” he said during a staple food package distribution activity in Bandung city, West Java, on Saturday.

According to him, reporting to the nearest security officer is important so that unwanted things or risks of crimes can be prevented, especially when the house is empty during the Eid holiday.

The Polri chief also asked the public to inform neighborhood security officers regarding the condition of the house so that it would be easier to supervise.

The police said that an increase in vehicle volume, which leads to traffic, was recorded on the seventh day before (D-7) Eid, as some people chose to travel early.

He also informed that Bandung and its surrounding areas may be affected by the traffic, as many residents have traveled home early.

To anticipate this, he said, the police have prepared a number of traffic control schemes to anticipate congestion at certain points, such as one-way, contraflow, and odd-even license plate number policy implementation.

The police chief reminded the public to obey the rules and field officers’ directions on the way.

"Stay updated on information related to Eid exodus problems and follow the rules that have been made, so that everyone can travel safely and avoid the risk of road accidents,” Prabowo said.

Some local governments have also asked residents leaving for the homecoming trip to report to the security officer to ensure the safety of their homes.

For instance, the West Jakarta city administration has instructed Public Order Security Agency (Satpol PP) officers at the local level to secure neighborhoods that might be empty during the holiday season.
