"This is an appeal because there have been reports of children getting separated from their parents in recent years,” she said during a working visit with officials from the Ministry of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection to Pulo Gebang Integrated Bus Terminal here on Sunday (April 16, 2023).
Solihah asked parents to supervise their children more in order to prevent unwanted things from happening during the 2023 Eid exodus trip.
"This appeal is related to how parents keep supervising, staying next to their children, and this must be really maintained because prevention is more important," she stated.
She also praised the Pulo Gebang Terminal management for providing children's facilities.
According to her, the presence of a children's playground in the terminal departure lounge could help keep children from feeling bored.
“Big appreciation for all kinds of facilities that provide support for pregnant women, and for children, so they will not be bored,” he said.
Meanwhile, Head of the Jakarta Transportation Office Syafrin Liputo said that the provision of inclusive services for children and women is meant to provide comfort to travelers.
"We aim (to provide) inclusive services for women, children, and persons with disabilities at the Pulo Gebang Terminal,” he said.
Earlier, the Indonesian Pediatric Association (IDAI) advised every parent to pay more attention to their children’s sleep time and diet during the exodus trip.
IDAI child protection task force member Hari Wahyu Nugroho said that during the homecoming trip, children’s sleep quality must also be considered as the departure and arrival schedules might change.
Disrupted sleep hours, he said, can affect children’s immunity and make them susceptible to diseases.
IDAI also asked parents to carry healthy snacks or meals to fulfill their children’s nutritional needs.
