Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has asked the 2023 Puteri Indonesia beauty pageant winner, Farhana Nariswari Wisandana, and finalists to help promote tourist destinations, Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno said on Monday.

"Princesses of Putri Indonesia (Indonesian beauty pageant) have been asked to promote destinations wherever they come from and wherever they serve," he informed at the Presidential Palace here after accompanying President Widodo to a briefing with the winner and finalists of Puteri Indonesia 2023.

One of the super-priority destinations, namely Labuan Bajo in East Nusa Tenggara, was promoted during the 42nd ASEAN Summit on May 10–11, 2023, he noted.

According to him, the President said that Puteri Indonesia Princesses will be asked to promote several super-priority destinations.

The destinations are Lake Toba (North Sumatra), Mandalika (West Nusa Tenggara), Likupang (North Sulawesi), and Borobudur (Central Java).

In addition, several other tourist destinations, such as Bangka Belitung, the Seribu Islands, Wakatobi, and Raja Ampat, will also be promoted by the Puteri Indonesia winner and finalists.

"The younger generation is expected to build awareness about tourist destinations and creative economy products ranging from culinary, fashion, and crafts," Uno said.

He informed that the winner and finalists of Puteri Indonesia 2023 have just returned from Lampung after learning about its charms as a tourist destination and its local creative economy products.

Therefore, he said he believes that they can carry out the task of promoting Indonesian tourism.

Meanwhile, chairperson of the Puteri Indonesia Foundation Advisory Board and member of the Presidential Advisory Council, Putri Kus Wisnu Wardani, said that President Widodo introduced the capital IKN Nusantara to the winner and finalists of Puteri Indonesia 2023.

"The President also showed a video about the future plan for IKN to them," she added.

The first runner-up and Puteri Pariwisata (Miss Tourism) Indonesia 2023, Yasinta Aurellia, and the second runner-up or Puteri Indonesia Lingkungan (Miss Environment) 2023, Lulu Zaharani Krisna, were present at the meeting with the President.

Miss Supranational 2022 Lalela Mswane from South Africa and Miss Charm 2023 Luma Russo from Brazil also attended the meeting.
