We will reprimand motorists who violate (traffic regulations) while we temporarily halt manual ticketing.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Chief of the National Police General Listyo Sigit Prabowo on Monday informed that the police will halt manual ticketing temporarily during the year-end holiday period.

"We will reprimand motorists who violate (traffic regulations) while we temporarily halt manual ticketing," he said at the Presidential Palace here.

He said that the police force, together with the Indonesian Military (TNI) and other stakeholders, will deploy a joint team comprising 129,923 personnel.

He expressed the hope that during the time manual ticketing remains temporarily suspended, motorists, road users, and the public will respect each other and comply with the traffic rules to maintain road safety.

"We ask the people to stay safe while on the road; safety must be maintained during the Christmas and New Year holidays," he said.

The police chief also asked people planning to travel home for the holidays to report to the local police office. He said that the local police will patrol empty neighborhood areas during the homecoming period.

He also advised people to store their valuables and vehicles at the nearest local offices if they wish to do so.

"Our offices are ready to serve if they are valuables that need to be stored. The police are ready to help to secure them as they will be unsafe, if left at home," he said.

The police are ready to secure the celebrations and related activities on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, he affirmed.

"We are also preparing our personnel to secure places of worship that will be used to carry out Christmas worship activities," he said.

The police will also assist people who do not have a place to carry out worship or celebrate Christmas.
