Amin noted in a statement from the Vice President's Secretariat here on Thursday that some of the issues that can be raised are human rights, democracy, education, and poverty, such as those brought up during the presidential and vice presidential debates.
Regarding debates for the 2024 elections, he noted that observers had conveyed their thoughts to improve the quality of future debates.
"Of the many observers, there were indeed those who criticized it (the debate). For example, panelists could not deepen questions, and so on," he stated.
The vice president also expressed hope that all relevant parties, including election organizers and the participants, would maintain their integrity.
He noted that there were signs of unhealthy campaigns as evidenced by complaints to the General Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu).
He urged Bawaslu to process various complaints that they received to ensure that the elections are carried out in a direct, public, free, confidential, honest, and fair manner.
Amin emphasized that Bawaslu plays a crucial role in maintaining the legitimacy of elections' results in addition to avoiding protests emerging after the elections are held.
He also urged the General Election Commission (KPU) to remain fair to all candidates to avoid protests that can lead to conflicts in future.
Indonesia will hold the general elections on February 14, 2024, with the participation of around 204.8 million voters.
During the elections, Indonesians will elect a president and vice president as well as members of the House of Representatives (DPR), Regional Representatives Council (DPD), and Regional Legislative Councils (DPRD) at the province, city, and district levels.
