"We will immediately gather the data. The slower we collect the data, the slower the repairs will be carried out," Suharyanto noted in a statement on Monday (January 1).
During his visit to Sumedang, Suharyanto said the DTH, amounting to Rp500 thousand per month, could be used to pay temporary rental costs until the recovery process was carried out.
"Houses, with moderate, light, or heavy damage, will later be repaired or relocated," he remarked.
On that occasion, he also handed over Ready-to-Use Funds (DSP), worth Rp350 million, to support all emergency handling for seven days, according to the emergency response period set by the Sumedang district government.
In addition, his side has provided several logistics and equipment, such as refugee tents, basic necessities, and other food, to meet the residents' needs.
"For initial assistance, we give Rp350 million to meet the needs of affected residents this week, including for the operations of the team on duty," he remarked.
Suharyanto stated that the entire handling process was in accordance with procedures and on time since his side has anticipated and increased preparedness for the 2023 Christmas Day and 2024 New Year by establishing a Nataru Alert Post.
With the Nataru Alert Post, when an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.8 struck in Sumedang, all disaster mitigation components could act quickly.
The 4.8M earthquake shook Sumedang on December 31. The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has reported that the earthquake was triggered by an uncharted active fault.
"This earthquake was triggered by an active fault that has not been mapped," head of BMKG's Earthquake and Tsunami Center, Daryono, stated at a press conference on Monday.
