As cited from MK's website here on Friday, the British envoys were accepted by the court's Acting Head of Public Relations and Protocol Bureau Budi Wijayanto and Head of Center for Research and Case Studies Pan Mohamad Faiz in Central Jakarta.
Wijayanto noted that the MK viewed the meeting as an opportunity to establish relations with the Ministry of Justice and the Embassy of the United Kingdom to Indonesia in Jakarta.
"This initiative (meeting) is expected to provide us with an opportunity to exchange insights on developments in legal affairs, democracy, as well as protection for human rights," he pointed out.
Meanwhile, Head of MK's Center for Research and Case Studies Pan Mohamad Faiz stated that his office was keen to take notes from the justice system run by the British Government.
"Not only the justice system but we are also interested in studying the British Government's stance on the supremacy of law," he stated.
A delegate from the Ministry of Justice Tim Britten, for his part, explained that the visit to Jakarta was made to get updates on matters currently being dealt with by the MK.
He remarked that the ministry had also sought to learn about measures taken by the MK to provide equitable access to justice for everyone and the type of technology utilized by the court during trials.
The envoy then stated that the UK Government had been applying similar technology for Indonesia, adding that the government is also making the most of the conveniences offered by artificial intelligence to make digital transcripts of trials.
