Jakarta (ANTARA) - National Police (Polri) Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo and Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) General Agus Subiyanto inspected personnel deployed to secure this year's homecoming exodus under Operation Ketupat 2024.
The two generals conducted the final inspection during a roll call held at the National Monument, Jakarta, on Wednesday, to ensure that all personnel are well-prepared for Operation Ketupat 2024 which will be carried out on April 4-16.
In his speech, General Prabowo urged all officers to provide the finest services during the operation, given that the number of travelers joining this year's Eid homecoming is projected to be 56 percent higher than that recorded in 2023.
According to a survey conducted by the Transportation Ministry, as many as 193.6 million people are forecast to participate in the homecoming, an increase of 56.4 percent as compared to last year, he pointed out.
"Mr. President Joko Widodo has emphasized that this year's homecoming exodus will record a significant increase in the number of travelers. He suggested that people travel on earlier dates and urged us to improve security measures for the homecoming and reverse flows," he noted.
The police chief then stated that Operation Ketupat 2024 involves 155,165 joint personnel from the TNI, Polri, and other relevant stakeholders.
The Polri has erected 3,772 security posts, 1,532 service posts, and 480 integrated posts to ensure optimal services for the people, he added.
Meanwhile, General Subiyanto stated that the TNI had dispatched a total of 67,955 soldiers to assist Polri in Operation Ketupat 2024.
In addition to personnel, he remarked that the TNI has prepared land, sea, and air vehicles to transport travelers from Jakarta to Semarang and Surabaya.
"On land, we have readied buses, tow trucks, and ambulances," he stated.
Attending the roll call, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Cultural Affairs Muhadjir Effendy extended his appreciation to TNI and Polri for making utmost preparations for this year's homecoming and reverse flows.
"As a coordinating minister, I would like to thank and appreciate Mr. Polri Chief, Mr. TNI Commander, and all involved in preparing what is needed to provide the best services during the 2024 homecoming," he remarked.
