"I remind homecomers to obey the existing rules, check the electronic toll balance, and ensure their fuel availability," Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Indonesian Culture, Muhadjir Effendy, stated in Semarang, Central Java.
He said that if rest areas alongside the toll road are full, then travelers can exit from the nearest toll gate to rest.
Meanwhile, Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi said that the one-way system could be started after monitoring traffic from Solo, Boyolali, and Salatiga to Banyumanik.
He pointed out that the vehicular movement was relatively high.
"We appreciate all officers involved in succeeding this homecoming," Sumadi remarked.
He also called on homecomers not to park on the shoulder of the road, which could cause accidents.
"If you are tired, please rest so you can focus on driving the vehicle," he suggested.
Chief of the Police Traffic Corps, Police Inspector General Aan Suhanan, said that after the one-way system ends at the Cikampek Utama GT in West Java, a contraflow system is applied, and he reminded travelers to be careful.
Predicting the peak return flow for April 14-15, authorities advise homecomers to travel outside this period if possible.
The government also provides discounted toll rates that apply from April 17–19 to prevent the amassing of vehicles during the peak of return flow.
