President Joko Widodo installed the former head of the Nusantara Capital Authority (OIKN) Bambang Susantono, as his special envoy tasked with facilitating international cooperation in the development of the new capital city (IKN) Nusantara.
Susantono's new mandate is put forward in Presidential Decree No.39/M of 2024, signed by the head of state on June 11.
"On June 11, the president inked Presidential Decree No.39/M of 2024 concerning the appointment of Mr. Susantono as Presidential Special Envoy for International Cooperation in Nusantara's Development," Presidential special staff coordinator Ari Dwipayana remarked on Thursday.
In a message received by ANTARA in Jakarta, Dwipayana stated that the former OIKN head is tasked with drawing in investments to IKN by promoting the city's investment appeal in bilateral and multilateral economic meetings.
"He is also mandated to carry out other tasks related to international cooperation in Nusantara's development in accordance with the president's instructions," he remarked.
Earlier, President Jokowi spoke of his plan to entrust Susantono as his special envoy to accelerate the development of Indonesia's future capital city.
