In this regard, women and children are vulnerable to falling prey to online gender-based violence, she told participants of the "Building Collaboration and Collective Action to Protect Women and Children from Various Forms of Violence in the Online World" event here Thursday.
"It is undeniable that the internet and social media have become the place for violence and exploitation that are increasingly diverse in their types and intensity," she said.
Technological advancements have also an impact on various aspects of life as digital transformation has brought about various changes in the social, economic, and government sectors, she remarked.
Meanwhile, the minister assessed that technology has enabled women to become more economically empowered and contribute in all fields, especially in the digital economy.
"Women's contribution in digital transformation aims to improve their welfare and quality of life by being able to use technology," she remarked.
She explained that with the use of technology, women have the opportunity to increase their income, have more job prospects, and gain knowledge and skills to boost their capacity and competence.
However, on the other hand, she drew attention to several risks in the digital world.
"Data shows that women and children are a vulnerable group to experience online gender-based violence," she stated.
The ministry has so far created a roadmap for child protection on online platforms so that other ministries and agencies, as well as local governments, have proper guidelines for implementing child protection.
