As the chairman of the Indonesian Electric Vehicle Industry Association (Periklindo), Moeldoko emphasized the government's commitment to making Nusantara a model city for electric vehicles (EVs).
He encouraged EV industry players to contribute to building a robust EV ecosystem in the new capital.
Moeldoko clarified that establishing an EV factory is not a prerequisite for participating in Nusantara's development, as the city is not primarily an industrial zone. Instead, he suggested that businesses focus on supporting the operation of autonomous vehicles within the city.
Deputy for Financing and Investment at the Nusantara Capital City Authority (OIKN) Agung Wicaksono previously revealed that numerous domestic and international companies have expressed interest in developing an EV ecosystem in Nusantara.
Singaporean transportation operator ComfortDelGro, Chinese EV manufacturer BYD, and Czech automaker Skoda are among those keen to provide eco-friendly vehicles for the new capital. Domestic firms, including PT Blue Bird and state-owned Damri, have also shown their support.
To facilitate EV adoption, state-owned electricity company PLN has installed six solar-powered public charging stations in Nusantara.
