"In general, the (progress of) infrastructure, the design, has increased by several percent from the previous month, and we are continuously evaluating the security, backup, and the design," he said at the ministry's headquarters in Jakarta on Friday.
In the initial stage of the PDN's operations, the ministry will use a managed service scheme, that is, the service will be managed by a third party.
Though it will not directly manage the Cikarang PDN, the ministry will still participate by assisting the third party entrusted with the task of managing the digital infrastructure.
The National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN) will also be involved in the management of the Cikarang PDN to ensure optimal cybersecurity.
"Since the very beginning, we have been trying to involve BSSN, even in the evaluations of several aspects, they gave notes, recommendations, assessment," Situngkir informed.
The Cikarang PDN is built using the government-to-government financing scheme, with funding of 164,679,680 euros (approximately US$179.9 million) from the French government.
It will be the first data center to be owned by the government and its presence is expected to integrate the data of ministries and agencies.
Through the system integration, the PDN is projected to improve the governance of public services provided by the government and make them more optimal.
In addition to the Cikarang PDN, the government is also preparing data centers in two locations — Batam, Riau Islands, and Indonesia's new capital Nusantara in East Kalimantan.
