"By October, 47 towers, 12 of which are dedicated to military and police officers, will have completed construction," he remarked in Nusantara, East Kalimantan, on Monday.
Anas highlighted that the towers have a total capacity to accommodate about 3,200 people, provided that all state apparatuses are placed in shared housing units
However, the minister noted that President Joko Widodo had instructed him to provide a whole individual accommodation for each married civil servant. Hence, in this scenario, the flats can accommodate around 1,700 residents.
He explained that the decision aims to ensure that domestic matters do not hinder the works of unmarried civil servants and security personnel stationed at IKN.
"Bearing this in mind, young unmarried civil servants do not need to worry since their married colleagues will not share a unit with them. Instead, they will inhabit a separate unit along with their families," he stated.
The minister noted that the scheme of sharing units would only be applied to unmarried civil servants and security personnel.
Anas then drew attention to the educational aspect, noting that the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing would erect a school around the housing towers.
"During a limited meeting, the government has decided to develop a school in the vicinity of the apartments to cater to the needs of civil servants' children," he stated.
The 47 housing towers have a total of 2,280 units, with each unit being 98 square meters and each tower soaring 12 floors high. Floors 1 and 2 are used for public facilities, while the remaining 10 floors are for housing. Each unit has three bedrooms.
