He expressed concern over the MPR leadership’s observations regarding the ongoing attacks in various parts of the world. Furthermore, the conflict in the Middle East continues to escalate and spread.
“We must not grow weary and must continue to fight for this cause in various international forums,” he remarked on Friday.
Soeparno pointed out that the call for Palestine’s liberation resonates not only with Indonesians but also with the international community. As a result, the MPR hopes that the spirit of advocating for Palestine’s freedom from occupation will grow even stronger.
Despite rising tensions in the Middle East, he emphasized that he does not support the idea of sending peacekeeping troops to conflict areas.
Instead, the government should focus on diplomatic efforts, as diplomacy is a powerful tool for achieving desired outcomes, he added.
“That way the world will understand that the suffering of Palestinians is a serious concern for Indonesians,” he stressed.
In a speech on Thursday, MPR Speaker Ahmad Muzani urged the Indonesian government to leverage its influence to prevent further escalation of the conflict in the Middle East.
He noted that conflicts in the region are increasing and expanding. Thus, Indonesia could utilize its influence in several forums, such as the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), G20, Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
