Bakamla's public relations staff, Captain Yuhanes Antara, remarked here on Monday that KN Pulau Dana-323 was dispatched by Head of the Bakamla West Zone, Admiral Bambang Trijanto, at the Batu Ampar Port, Batam City, Riau Islands, on Sunday (October 6).
"This is the goodwill port visit program, which aims to strengthen maritime cooperation between Indonesia and its neighboring countries, such as Vietnam and Singapore," Antara stated.
He elaborated that KN Pulau Dana-323 was dispatched to conduct the goodwill mission for 10 days, traveling from Batam to Vietnam, with an estimated arrival date of October 8, and it will dock there until October 11.
The ship will then sail back to Batam via Singapore, with a projected arrival date of October 13, and will stay there until October 16.
Under this goodwill program, the KN Pulau Dana-323 is commanded by Lieutenant Colonel Hananto Widhi Nugroho, with around 50 ship crew on duty.
"During this goodwill mission, there are various activities, including bilateral dialogues and a joint exercise," he noted.
According to Nugroho, this goodwill mission aims to increase the exchange of information and the sharing of experiences in the maritime law enforcement field as well as discuss various maritime security issues.
"This goodwill mission is one of the (activities under the implementation of the ASEAN Coast Guard Forum (ACF). As ASEAN countries have formed the ACF, one of its activities is diplomatic visits," Nugroho remarked.
Bakamla leaders will attend the bilateral meetings in person with Vietnam and Singapore.
Earlier, KN Pulau Dana-323 had conducted a similar mission to Australia in 2022.
