"I was asked to help his cabinet, and (this assignment) is in accordance with my field of expertise. What would it be? A minister of law? But I am an athlete," Taufik Hidayat, familiarly known as Taufik, remarked after meeting with Prabowo.
However, he was reluctant to respond firmly when asked about the possibility of serving as deputy minister of youth and sports for the next five years.
"I do not know. He (Prabowo) knows better, and I will definitely join in," he remarked.
On that occasion, Taufik said he had not communicated with Prabowo before the meeting on Tuesday.
"It was never before. This is the first time I was contacted at 14:20 local time by Teddy (Prabowo's aide). Of course, I was surprised. I was still in Salemba and do not know how to get here at 14:30 (local time)," he remarked.
Gerindra Party Executive Chairman Sufmi Dasco Ahmad Ahmad said earlier that President-elect Prabowo Subianto had invited more cabinet officials, both deputy ministers and agency heads, for today's meeting.
"I have not counted the number. However, since there are one or two nominated in one ministry, so there will be a lot," Dasco stated here on Tuesday (Oct 15).
