Public Relations Manager of the KAI Operational Area 1, Ixfan Hendriwintoko, noted in a statement here on Saturday that the increase reflects KAI's commitment to improving its services to the community.
The manager noted that as of Saturday (December 21), ticket sales hit 38,160 - representing 85.3 percent of the daily capacity of 44,714 seats.
Hendriwintoko noted that tickets for long-distance train trips, with departure points at Jakarta's Gambir Station and Pasar Senen Station, are still available, with the total number of seats readied for the holiday period reaching 801,625.
He remarked that tickets for 50 percent of those seats, or around 400 thousand, have been sold.
"The KAI Operational Area 1 Jakarta has maximized (the number of) trains departing from Pasar Senen Station and Gambir Station," he affirmed.
Based on the KAI data, 115,745 tickets for trains departing from Gambir Station have been sold. Meanwhile, the number of tickets sold for trains that depart from Pasar Senen Station reached 279,605.
Furthermore, he noted that the most-picked dates for December are 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, and 25.
Meanwhile, the most popular destinations among long-distance train customers are Yogyakarta, Lempuyangan, Surabaya, Purwokerto, and Semarang.
He said the long-distance train ticket purchase services for the Christmas and New Year holidays are already open since November 4, 2024.
Hence, he appealed to the public to immediately get the tickets through the Access by KAI application or other official channels collaborating with KAI.
