This could help offset the domination of imported products on e-commerce platforms, Riza explained after visiting the headquarters of Shopee Indonesia in Jakarta on Friday.
"Locally made products should get special attention on marketplace platforms like Shopee," he stressed.
"If necessary, these platforms can add a special label of 'Made in Indonesia' to inform consumers that the products they purchase are made domestically," he suggested.
Furthermore, the deputy minister advised online shopping platforms to display information on the country of origin of each imported product, particularly those offered at lower prices.
"Consumers have the right to know the origin of the products they buy. Such transparency is essential to foster healthy and fair competition," he emphasized.
He also appealed to online customers to prioritize purchasing domestically produced goods to support local businesses.
He said that the government, consumers, and producers share the responsibility to support the growth of domestic businesses.
He also urged producers to focus on enhancing the quality and competitiveness of their products.
"I am optimistic that our domestic industries will continue to grow and compete in global markets. We all should play a part in supporting them," he stressed.
He further said that the government is planning a routine evaluation of online shopping platforms to ensure the proper implementation of all related policies.
"We will continue to oversee and evaluate online marketplaces to ensure that domestically made products are well-represented," he added.
