Maharani delivered this message at a meeting with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev in Baku, Azerbaijan, on Wednesday.
The speaker emphasized the importance of enhancing this cooperation, especially given the existing reciprocal Visa on Arrival (VoA) arrangement that facilitates tourism between the two countries.
"It is necessary to expand cooperation between the two countries, accompanied by increased contact between the two countries. Tourism is a sector that can strengthen relations between people," she noted in her official statement.
In addition, she also encouraged more private parties from both countries to promote increasing trade and investment.
According to Maharani, Azerbaijan is one of Indonesia's strategic partners in the Eurasian region.
"Increasing trade and investment cooperation between the two countries is necessary, especially in the fields of defense, energy, tourism and construction," she stressed.
Furthermore, the house speaker noted that Indonesia and Azerbaijan can explore collaboration in capacity building through education and joint exercise with the exchange of information and technology and participation in defense expo.
Maharani also underscored the need to develop energy sector cooperation, as both countries have vast potential in energy sources, including conventional and new and renewable energy.
"We can encourage cooperation and involvement of state-owned enterprises of both countries in energy management," she stated.
The House speaker stated that President Aliyev agreed that the two countries should strive to enhance cooperation in various fields. He also invited Indonesian companies to participate in reconstruction projects in the Karabakh region.
President Aliyev also sent a message through Maharani to Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, inviting him to an official visit to Azerbaijan and expressing his keenness on reciprocal visits.
President Aliyev affirmed that he would immediately send special teams in the fields of economy, defense, culture, and education to conduct an exploratory visit to Indonesia.
