There were no fatalities in the recent eruption because the 4,000 evacuees had not returned to their homes since the previous eruption last November, BNPB chief Suharyanto said on Friday.
"During the eruption last night until the early hours of this morning, there was one injury, but that person was in a plantation," he said after a ministerial meeting to discuss the post-eruption management of Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki.
On Thursday night, Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki spewed volcanic ash up to 8 kilometers into the air from its peak, prompting the Geological Agency to raise its alert level from Level III (Standby) to the highest Level IV (Warning).
The agency advised residents living around Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki, as well as visitors and tourists, to avoid any activities within a seven-kilometer radius of the volcano's eruption center.
It also urged them to refrain from any activities in the southwest, north, and northeast directions within an eight-kilometer radius for safety.
